
Maui Police have identified the third person who was killed in a two-car crash early Wednesday morning as 22-year-old Giovanni Suarez of Kihei.
Suarez was operating a gold 2000 Ford Escape that was traveling north and crossed the center line at around 3:08 a.m. on Honoapiilani Highway in Lahaina and collided head-on into a gray 2016 Kia Soul which was traveling south. The Escape caught on fire and engulfed the vehicle. Suarez, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Two people who were in the Kia also died at the scene. They were 81-year-old Lui Williams and 75-year-old Lena Williams, both of Lahaina. Lena Williams was a carrier for The Maui News.
