MIAMI – Josten Crow scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Sam Houston State battled back in the second half to edge Florida International 74-71 on Saturday night.
Crow also had six assists and nailed four 3-pointers for the Bearkats (6-3). Gilberto Clavell added 16 points and six rebounds.
DeJuan Wright had 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Golden Panthers (4-6), and Eric Frederick added 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
FIU led 51-43 with 13:37 after a 3-pointer by Frederick before Sam Houston State went on a 14-5 run to pull ahead 57-56 on Crow's 3-pointer at the 8:43 mark.
Sam Houston State outrebounded Florida International 44-32 and made 11 3-pointers in 27 attempts — including 8 of 19 in the second half — to the Golden Panthers' 4 in 14 attempts overall.
